It is a short film/documentary making competition in which a group of students are required to make an entertainment or fiction based feature film or a documentary not exceeding duration of 15 minutes.
It has two categories:
a. Entertainment / Fiction
b. Documentary /Social Message
It must be noted that all the technical requirement of the film such as Direction, Lead Acting, Cinematography, Camera Work, Screen Play, Background Score, etc. must be fulfilled by the students only and no professional support should be sought. In case any professional support is taken, it shall lead to immediate disqualification from the event.

  • Your short film should not be longer than 15 minutes and not shorter than 3 minutes.
  • The entry must be the original work of the student(s).
  • The production team size should not exceed 15 and shall not be less than 5 including all actors and actresses (scenes where the crowd is involved is acceptable without being counted in the production team).
  • Limited use of copyrighted material will be permitted in the entry so long as it is a lawful or "fair" use, and so long as such use does not overwhelm the contribution of the student(s).
  • Please make sure that your finished short film is under 1.5 GB in size and that it is in one of the following video formats: .AVI/ .MOV /.MPG/ .MPG2/ .MPEG2 /.MPEG4 /.MP4/ .WMV and bring it in HDD or PD only.
  • The host University reserves the right to use the photographs submitted for evaluation for any publication purpose of the University.

  • There is no fixed theme for the ads, but any film bordering on vulgarity/racism will be disqualified.
  • Ads should be an authenticated work. Any deviation from this rule will lead to disqualification.
  • The duration of the ad should be not be more than 2 minutes.
  • The production team should not exceed more than 5.
  • Ad should be made minimum with "5 Megapixel camera".
  • Completed ads must be submitted before (date specified) in mpeg (MPG, MPEG4) or .avi formats only.
  • Even if you are good in designing, you can showcase your for the first time animated ads are also entertained.
  • Limited or no use of copyrighted material is allowed. We expect the entry or original talent by the participants.
  • The host University reserves the right to use the photographs submitted for evaluation for any publication purpose of the University.

This competition has three themes in which 5 photographs from each of the theme is to be submitted by a photographer for evaluation.
Theme 1: Fashion Photography (Model / Folk / Indian / Simplicity)
Theme 2: Catch the Mixed emotion
Theme 3: Macro Photography

  • All Photos have to be clicked within MMU and during the days of Fest only.
  • Each round shall be evaluated separately and the winner shall be decided on the cumulative score of all the rounds.
  • The entry must be the original work of the student.
  • Photographs must be in digital format.
  • No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest.
  • All digital files must be in JPEG or .jpg format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
  • No editing is allowed except cropping.
  • High dynamic range (HDR) images and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable.
  • Any changes to the original photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the photograph ineligible for a prize.
  • The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
  • The host University reserves the right to use the photographs submitted for evaluation for any publication purpose of the University.

event Venue

The various events of UniversuMM 2018 shall be conducted at about 25+ Venues and Locations. The Cultural activities shall be conducted primarily at the Prince's Stage (Sports Complex Ground), the Queen's Stage (Nescafe), the Kings Stage (Cricket Ground) & MMDU Central Auditorium. The Sports Competitions would be conducted at the Sports Complex, Cricket Ground, Volleyball Courts, Basketball Courts, and the Squash Courts. The Literary & technical events shall be conducted at the Seminar & Conference Halls of the Institutions and at various technical arenas.


Shared accommodation in Rooms / Dormitory / Halls shall be provided to all participants from locations other than Ambala, Ambala Cantt. and Yamunagar; free of cost. All accommodation shall be on first registered first served basis. A candidate shall be considered registered once the fee for registration is paid online. Only basic facility such as Mattress, Bed-sheet & Pillow shall be provided. Students are advised to arrange all specific requirements if any, as desired.

Transport Facility

MMDU is well connected from Ambala Cannt. and all nearby cities. However, special buses shall ply from Ambala Cantt. for students who are arriving between 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM on 9th & 10th September 2018. Buses shall be arranged for departure on 12th September 2018, for those students who are leaving after 8:00 PM to Ambala Cantt.
Participants shall also be allowed to ply from and to various locations where University buses ply such as Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Chandigarh, Patiala, Rajpura, etc. as per University bus schedule and availability of space in it.
